Title: Transcendental Floss

Gender: Male

Age: 45

Sun Sign: Virgo

Chinese Sign: Wood Dragon

Location: Bellingham, Washington

About Me:

I'm still hoping that something positive will come out of this whole internet thing.

I am the founder, editor and contributing writer for…

Transcendental Floss

…a multi-author weblog and online gathering place for people in the Pacific Northwest. Brought to you by a group of writers, representing Portland, Oregon, Seattle & Bellingham, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the content is meant to be provocative, to draw readers into conversation, and to build community.

Arts & entertainment, news/politics, technology, life in general - we write about whatever strikes a fancy.

Note: We don’t have anything personal against fancies, and any pleasure we take from the striking of them is purely in a figurative sense.

Inspired by Tru, here are answers to introduction-inducing questions he posed at his Wrops for Writer Operations pod:

What's your blog/website location(s)?

Transcendental Floss

What's one of your favorite writers or musicians?

So many to name, so little time.

Oy, where to start?

Writers: Broad range of eras and countries of origin, male and female, gay and straight.  Particular faves from Shakespeare and other classic lit, to Victorian English writers, Early American, the Beats, and Yiddish lit.

Musicians: Even broader range of eras and countries of origin, raised on 60's and 70's rock and roll, discovered classical and jazz, explored a lot of African, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European music, found Celtic, then, most recently returned to the roots of rock and roll: blues, old-timey/bluegrass/early country, folk.  Particular faves from Bach to Mozart to Beethoven to Chopin, from Klezmer to Russian to Bulgarian, from Egypt to Madagascar to Zimbabwe to Mali, to Robert Johnson to Muddy Waters to Leadbelly to Woody Guthrie to Doc Watson to Bill Monroe to John Coltrane to Miles Davis to Grateful Dead, etc.

What would you like to accomplish through your writing or music?

I'd like to sustain honest self-expression, to stimulate thinking and conversation, to touch people, and to always feel proud of what I write.

Do you think you're more extroverted or introverted?

I'm truly in between.  It's situational.

What animal really inspires you?

Depends on my mood, but to answer from the moment, I'd say Sea Turtles, slow and steady, longevity, plenty of time for all of one's dreams…what's not to like? :-)

What's your favorite flower?

Can't just pick one: Tulips, Sunflowers, Dahlias, Daisies

Say hello in a language other than your native tongue?

Shalom!
